Nike and Michael Jordan's Jordan Brand sneaker rise, fall, and ...

The Item That Took the World by Storm

Most people know sneakers as a daily item that is simply used for going place to place. However, others view these as more than this. In recent years, tennis shoes have become a very important part of society. Sneakers are now becoming more expensive, rare, and different then they were 15 years ago. The sneaker culture is taking over the youth and world by storm. In this blog, we will be talking about how and where this obsession originated from, and much more.

History of Sneakers

The sneaker that started the sneaker culture is the Jordan 1 Banned. It was called this because the NBA had banned Michael Jordan from wearing them in-game. This was his first marketed sneaker. It was sold out all over the country. Michael Jordan became the staple of sneakers and basketball. Jordan's sneakers became popular because of how good of a basketball player he was. Other future players became inspired by Jordan's game and sneakers, such as Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James.

Top Sneaker Influencers

With the growing popularity of sneakers, there are many current influencers. Some of the top sneaker influencers right now are Michael Jordan, Kanye West, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Tyler, The Creator. The question is; what do they all have in common? The answer is simple. They are all using their platform to their advantage. Artists like Kanye and Tyler, The Creator sign deals with brands to create sneakers. Consumers purchase these products because their idols ask them to. Basketball players, like LeBron James, are able to use their platform even better. By signing with sneaker companies and wearing their shoes, more fans will want that brand of sneaker, leading to higher revenue.

Brands

When it comes to brands, there are many popular and unpopular brands. The more popular brands would be Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Converse, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton. Some of these brands have built up their reputations for years upon end, like Nike, Adidas, and New Balance. Their brands have been producing sneakers for all types of events for decades. Other brands like Gucci, have recently become popular brands in the past few decades. This is because of the rarity and materials of their sneakers. These types of sneakers are more popular with wealthier people.

Pricing

Pricing for certain sneakers is a very challenging thing to do for some sneakers. Something sneaker companies cannot do it overprice their sneakers. They can't do this because they will get less revenue. An example of this would be Lonzo Ball's sneaker. He priced it at w whopping $400. There were under 100 sales and he lost thousands of dollars. Companies need to make their sneakers available for all people. In order to do that they are usually under $150-$200.
